Our Story
In 1960, at the invitation of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Shakhbut, Dr. Pat and Marian Kennedy left the United States to establish the first healthcare centre in Abu Dhabi Emirate. What began as a small clinic in Al Ain became the foundation of modern healthcare in the region.
Over six decades, more than 120,000 children have been born at Kanad Hospital — including His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. The hospital has grown from a modest missionary clinic to a JCI-accredited institution serving the entire community.
In recognition of the Kennedys' extraordinary legacy, the hospital was renamed from Oasis Hospital to Kanad Hospital under the directives of the Crown Prince, honouring the founders' enduring commitment to compassionate, accessible care for all.
